PRA Applauds Creation of Intellectual Property Task Force

The following is a statement from PRA Executive Director, Kelsey Zahourek:

"I applaud the Department of Justice for recognizing the significance of intellectual property as a driver of economic growth and job creation to the U.S. economy by creating a task force dedicated to the protection of IP.

"Strong intellectual property enforcement is key to long-term economic growth and prosperity. Intellectual property rights can boost trade and foreign investment dramatically, but first, global piracy and counterfeiting must be stopped or significantly reduced for the economy to thrive.

"The economic dangers of IP theft are real. Businesses in the United States lose $250 billion every year to pirated and counterfeit products, causing significant job losses in a sector which employs 18 million American workers. IP theft hurts real Americans, not just rock stars and Hollywood celebrities."
